Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
