NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
