NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
