Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
