NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
