NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
