Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
