I’ve been playing poker now for about 5 years, I’ve bet cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head game. I used to usually win, whatever game we were wagering and although I liked to call it skill, it was quite tough to warrant thinking about the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was happy to accept I was having a long run of luck.

Then came Poker, or a lot more importantly Texas holdem Poker, made famous by a group of Texas card players in the 1960’s and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is absolutely the new black, it’s uber cool with numerous of the world’s leading celebs racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick scan through the TV channels these days and you’ll be able to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each individual gambler.

So with all of this new discovered recognition, with so quite a few Tv shows devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are folks going to learn that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I must not receive so worked up about this, after all the additional folks who wrestle with the delicate techniques and methods needed for winning consistently at Texas hold em, the far better it really is for everyone else, correct? I mean, if they can not be bothered to read all of the offered details about why position is so important, why ought to we bother? We must just be glad there is an additional fish at the table!

It’s true, we ought to not reward idleness with guidance and support. Nevertheless, I liken this to a welcoming game of football. Granted the levels aren’t so great, except when you see a player having difficulties, you support them, offer them a number of advice, ultimately showing them a method to enjoy, love and appreciate the game as much as you. I am calling on all house gamblers to do exactly the same thing with their poker friends who have not quite grasped the nuances of wagering position. Aid them to grow their respect for the casino game. Of course, do not attempt to try this one in your local betting house, the sharks won’t appreciate you teaching their supper how to swim!
