Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
