No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
