No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
