NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
