No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
