No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
