Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
