The Importance of Poker Position

Hold’em is all about people and position. All experienced Holdem enthusiasts agree that position in no cutoff Texas Holdem is fundamentally important. Showing your hole cards in last position will be a whole lot more profitable than in early poker position. This is seeing that a lot more information is assembled prior to acting.

i.e., I played in a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local spot. I came in with 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, just to partake in a little fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A bettor in early position placed a fifteen dollar wager. Two individuals fold and it was now my turn to act. I should have dropped out, but his game play seemed a bit odd. I labeled this person as a weak-tight person, and usually if he had the best hand he would simply check, so I called.

The turn came down with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My competitor placed another bet of $20. I deliberated for a while, but took a chance to re-raise another $30thirty dollars over and above his $20. He dropped out and I take the money.

Wagering at late position offers you an idea where you stand by watching how other players behave and wager. On the flip side, gamblers at early spot may use their poker position to check-raise the last positioned aggressors and corner them later at the end. In Hold’em, both ends, late and early must be bet carefully.
