[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
